Girl Scout Cookie Breakdown. 11 March 2008. FitSugar. Web. 22 Sept. 2009.

The online article is meant to bring the unhealthiness of Girl Scout cookies to the audience’s attention. It does not outright bash Girl Scout cookies but it provides information and warns the reader to be cautious of the facts shown. The source is useful in that provides hard facts that proof that the cookies are unhealthy. The source itself is reliable because it is a major corporation, part of the Sugar Corporation that has the goal to inform the reader and caution them, not persuade them against or for the cookies.

Young, John. “Failures of Our Age: Communism versus Capitalism.” 31 March 2007. 27 September 2009 .

This article spoke on how capitalism today is strikingly similar to communism, and is merely masked by a web of lies. It talks about how an individual can’t really own much of anything due to the ease at which the government or a single lawyer can take it away. This argument contains a credible opinion, but as with any discussion of this subject, it contains bias as well. It is clear that the author is blatantly against government interference in the lives of Americans and that we would all be better off without the rules and regulations we have in place today. I will use this article to point out areas in which our economic system and government are corrupt and show a side of the issue that is being debated within this paper.

“Surrounded by a coastal plain of sparkling beaches, spacious marshes, and palmetto trees...Set in the center of the Carolina Low Country, like a single jewel on a golden chain...Welcome to Charleston, South Carolina, city of history, mystery and preservation”
This quote off the website will help me in my paper as it tells the reader what Charleston truly looks like through a pedestrian.Through the Low Country there are many beautiful places and locations one can go to experience all South Carolina’s outdoors has to offer. It ranges from the beaches of the low country down the coast to the historical district of Charleston, which hold some of the most important history in the south. Utilizing this in my paper allow the people who disagree with the idea behind preserving such a beautiful place. The main idea behind South Carolina is how it is like a "single jewel on a gold chain..." which is the main point im trying to convey in my paper and how we need to keep tourism alive. Therfore we can have charleston so beautiful.

Hanson, David J. Ph.D. “We Would All be Better off if the Drinking Age were 18.” Alcohol Problems and Solutions. (1997-2007.) Web Document.

Hanson’s article offers an honest opinion on whether or not the drinking age should be lowered back to 18. He brings in very important points and reasons to back up his opinion. Dr. David Hanson agrees on the subject that the drinking age should be lowered back to 18. He finds it silly that an 18 year old is supposed to be categorized as an adult yet they cannot buy alcohol. Hanson says, “if they can fight a war then an 18 year old should be able to drink.”

This source is a somewhat reliable source. Hanson has a Ph.D. and is a professor at a well-known university. The article he has written is biased because it is written on an alcohol based website, but it is a reliable source.

This article is the base of the research topic of lowering the drinking age back to 18. It is the epitome of the idea and argument that people have been trying to make since it was raised to 21. It explains probably the most important fact that people bring up. The idea that if you can fight for your country, that you should be able to buy alcohol, is the biggest idea that people bring up. It is very relevant to the topic of lowering the drinking age.

“Global Warming Fast Facts.” National Geographic News. 2007. 26 Sep. 2009. .

This article from National Geographic News outlines the causes and effects of global warming. Statistics concerning the issue of global warming are included as well. The article explains that humans are in fact the cause of global warming, and that we must take action to prevent it. The article explains what global warming is; it describes how the greenhouse gases created by humans are causing the overall temperature of the earth to rise. It is stated that many areas of our planet are being affected from our pollution: from the glaciers and poles, to the coral reefs in the oceans. The article then goes on to explain that global warming is having an impact on our planet; unusual weather events such as extreme droughts and large, powerful hurricanes are becoming more frequent. It also states that some species of animals with become extinct, and explains that low lying areas of land will eventually be submerged if we continue to ignore global warming.
Although a specific author is not listed, National Geographic seems to be a reputable source. This is evident in the fact that the statistics shown in the article have been obtained from various government organizations such as the UN Panel for Climate Change.
I will be able to use this source in my paper, as it seems to be a reliable source and includes many useful statistics to back up my argument that we must utilize new methods of sustainable architecture to reduce our emissions of carbon dioxide. The statistics are stated simply, so this will be an ideal source of statistics for my paper.

Cohen, Peter J. "Medical marijuana, compassionate use, and public policy: expert opinion or Vox Populi?." The Hastings Center Report 36.3 (May-June 2006): 19(4). Academic OneFile. Gale. Clemson University Libraries. 27 Sept. 2009

Being that this article was published by the Hasting Center Report, which is a very well known bioethics research institute, it is a very credible source to use. This article is written by Peter Cohen who is professor at Georgetown wrote this article explaining how the medical uses of marijuana go back as far as the ancient greeks. He also discusses how there has also been a long medical history of medical use of marijuana in American history. Using this article I can help to developed the background of marijuana use and historical practices.

Claiborne, Shane. Jesus for President. Grand Rapids, Michigan: Zondervan, 2008. Print.

Using this book, I will delve into what has gone wrong in the history of the Church, specifically with the Roman Empire, and with what has happened to culture in America today dealing with politics and the Church. The writer, Shane Claiborne, is a Christian activist for service to the poor and nonviolence. He offers bias towards changing the Church, but backs up his arguments with facts and rational thinking, making him a credible source to use. The source will be used to both develop my argument of how the Church has fallen away throughout history, and how the Church in America is also far from where it should be.

Sacks, Oliver. “How Music Can Change the Brain.” The Music Instinct: Science & Song. PBS. May 21, 2009. .
This source is trustworthy being on the PBS website. The interviewee, Oliver Sacks (CBE, FRCP, MD), is a British neurologist, well-published in the area of neurology. The PBS program itself is directed towards educational purposes. This series is geared towards an intellectual audience, probably those interested in music, neurology, or anyone just curious. Oliver Sacks is interviewed many times in this series on the topic of music and the brain, covering topics like “Are Humans Wired for Music?” and “Parkinsonism and Music’s Ability to Heal”. This work is useful in that it directly answers general questions about the brain functions vs. the abilities of music, in comparison to reading an article or book, which pours over every detail of the subject. Interviews, like this one, can also be very informal, making it easier to follow along and stay interested. This series hits on a lot of the topics I might cover in my paper.
